mountain or mole hill?

sometimes i really hate being a human.  seriously.  i have fallen in love with a God who parted the Red Sea to let His people through, spoke the sun into existence, wrote on the walls with fire and died on the cross but i still doubt His ability to heal my life.  what is up with that?  i dont know about you, but everytime i have a problem i tend to view it as a mountain when, i am sure, God is looking at it like a mole hill wondering why i dont trust Him enough to take care of it.  that is where i am at today…

WHEW!!!

Okay, so this week has been CRAZY!!!!  CRAZY good, but CRAZY nonetheless!!  First, Courtney and I painted the inside of our house, then we started VBS (which I will talk about in detail later) on Monday, and then my friend Wes from my time in Mississippi came to visit for the week (bless him because i totally put him to work), and finally Tracy and PD played at Mebane after hours at Life on Center!!!

So first, let me say that VBS was AWESOME!!!  the volunteers were AMAZING!!!  Not only did they show up night after night at 5pm to serve dinner, but they hung around until 9pm or so to help clean up.  Everywhere I looked there were volunteers holding kids, hugging kids, dancing with kids, or playing with kids!!!  That my friends is building community and being Christ to the world!!  THANKS GUYS!!!

I must also send a shout out to my friends PD and Tracy, who not only showed up early every night to help set up, but sang every night TWICE and then stayed to help clean up!!!  I heart them!  and on top of that (cause you know, they dont have enough to do!) they learned enough songs to fill about 2 hours to sing and play at Life on Center for Mebane after hours tonite.

And my friend Wes…well, lets just say I kept apologizing to him all week because if you have hung out with me at all you know that my life is pretty busy and it just does not stop….ever.  Bless him, he was thrown right into VBS and all the craziness of getting ready for the Footprints trip that is happening on Monday.  He said he had fun though, and I think he really did enjoy meeting all of y’all!!!  Thanks everyone for being so friendly!!!

Okay well, I am so tired that I can hardly hold my eyes open….

painting

so this past weekend courtney and i painted the inside of the house because well, we are trying to act like grownups now.  anyway, we have two dogs and normally our two dogs lay around the house all day and act as though we have had them pulling milk carts or plowing fields.  literally, they are couch potatoes, madison at one end of the couch and duncan at the other…asleep…but, for whatever reason, perhaps it was because our house was in utter mayhem due to moved furniture, the dogs were very alert and wanted to be right where we were…ALL THE TIME!  and this is what happened….

yeah...its a special look that only a mom could love!                                  this is where we decided to sleep against the wall...

yeah...we are not sure how this happened!

positive post

So my friend tracy has a friend brody who has a blog that i read pretty regularly.  on tuesdays he and others who read his blog do a thing called positive post tuesday, and i thought this week i would jump on the wagon.

i have great friends….i mean i get that everyone thinks their friends are great, but mine really are!!  i cannot possibly talk about them all today, but know that if you are not mentioned, you are not forgotten.  today, i am going to talk about two of my friends in particular because these are the people that are always honest and constantly show me how to be Christ for other people.

Tracy is a dentist in town who, when i found out i still owed another month of rent on my apartment in mississippi, cooked dinner for me and invited me into her home even though she had enough on her plate with her niece living with her.  i am not sure what i would have done without her this past month, but i am really glad that God placed her in my life.  she pushes me to Christ and pushes me to think like Him and live my life so that others can see Him in me, mostly because that is how she lives her life.

PD, who founded Jesusgreaterthan.org, and his wife, Suzanne, let me invite myself into their home on multiple occasions when i felt like the world around me might come down.  seriously, i have called him in the middle of the day just to hear someone tell me it really was all going to be okay.  he has a heart to change the world and love people the way that God told us to.  he created an entire organization dedicated to helping those affected by war, poverty and disease and while i might give him a hard time, he is teaching me everyday that actively working to love people is what Christ has called us to do.

yup….i heart them!!!

kids and horses

So this past weekend i played mom to three kids.  the kids were great and we had a fun time, but let me tell you…that is the most tired i have been in a very long time.  my hat is off to all you moms out there.  honestly, i am not sure how you do it every day all day.  i know that i want kids one day, but i am thinking that day is a little farther into the future than i once thought!

so for all you who do not know, i live in a house in gibsonville with my roommate courtney smith, two dogs, some fish, and a horse.  well, the horse lives out back in the barn and pastures, and for the most part does his own thing.  this morning i woke up and went my usual route to the kitchen to let the dogs outside when i happened to look out the window and see that our horse, Dakota, was taking himself on a walk of the backyard….not his part of the backyard….our part of the backyard.  the horse, it seems, has figured out how to open the door that leads from his wash stall in the barn out to the front pasture…yeah, it was a special morning….
